The art of Mark Kelner causes onlookers to think twice about the signs they are accustomed to seeing. Raised in Rockville, Maryland, he is the son of Russian immigrants who fled the Soviet regime at the time of his birth. He began making art based on the cultural signifiers he saw around him, namely, branded logos. Kelner’s latest exhibition, “Solaris: Shelter For the Cold War,” featured political art, such as the redacted pages of the Mueller Report, and attracted guests from across the country.
